The fasting month, observed by the Muslim-majority Indonesia, often coincides with an increase in demand for blood. Continuing its tradition of contributing to the blood bank supply, APRIL's Indonesian subsidiary PT RAPP recently collaborated with Keluarga Donor Darah (KDD)  to organise a blood donation drive for its Kerinci-based employees.

The event, the 51st collaboration between KDD and RAPP, was just one of the many ways in which RAPP employees have continually given back to their community. The most recent blood donation drive saw an impressive 1,265 bags of blood donated.

Rudi Fajar, President Director at APRIL, was left in awe after seeing the willingness and enthusiasm the APRIL family had for a good cause.

“This is what amazes me— their faces have no fear, in fact they are so enthusiastic about registering to donate blood,” said Fajar.

The donation drive was a welcome boost for KDD as well, which regularly faces a shortage in blood supplies nearing the period of Ramadan.

With 1,265 bags of blood donated this time round, even higher aims are being set – with the next goal set at 1,500 bags.

Ultimately, according to Mr. Fajar, the event was a poignant reminder about the strength in diversity and unity. “It is only during blood donation activities that we can see that there are no divisions, no tribe, no religion, or race. It all comes down to one’s interest in humanity,” said Fajar.

APRIL’s community development programme represents the company’s commitment to live up to the challenge set by its Founder Sukanto Tanoto for his businesses to be Good for Community, Good for Country, Good for Climate, Good for Customer and Good for Company.
