On January 17, 2015, the technologies and processes from Asia Symbol (Shandong) Pulp and Paper Co., Ltd. research and development (R&D) efforts in 2014 were accredited by China’s leading experts in the pulp and paper industry. Three of the eight R&D achievements were accredited as having attained international standards that are leading in the industry, five having achieved advanced international standard. All eight R&D achievements bear significant values in terms of economic contribution and environmental protection.
The accreditation meeting was organized jointly by Rizhao Science and Technology Bureau, and the Science and Technology Office of the Economic and Technological Development Area, Rizhao. Industry experts and professors from China Paper Association, National Paper Quality Supervision and Inspection Center, China Light Industry International Engineering Co., Ltd., China National Pulp and Paper Research Institute, Shandong Paper Industrial Association, Shandong Paper Association, Nanjing Forestry University, Dalian Polytechnic University and Qingdao University of Science and Technology attended the meeting, as well as made on-site visit to the production plant and investigated the products of Asia Symbol. The eight technologies & processes presented by Asia Symbol were all accredited after these stringent reviews and assessments.
The three R&D achievements accredited as having attained leading international standard have been successfully introduced to the market, and are well received. They evolved from the actual production of pulp and paper, supported by advanced engineering technologies, with the aim to realize conservation of energy, reduction in emission and recycling use of resources. These three technological breakthroughs are now playing a vital part in China’s pulp and paper industry. Among them, the “recycling 40,000 cubic meters of waste water on a daily basis” allows Asia Symbol to put treated water back to industrial use, which is a pioneering technology of the industry in China. In 2014, the technology was included in the 2014 Excellent Cases of Foreign Enterprises in China Fulfilling Corporate Social Responsibility. The technologies of “replacing diesel with methanol as the burning fuel in the odor gas incinerator” and “reducing NOX emission in the odor gas incinerator” are able to significantly cut the consumption of diesel, and reduce the NOX emissions in the pulp mills.
In 2014, Asia Symbol (Shandong) Pulp and Paper Co., Ltd. invested extensively in the design, research and development of new technologies and products. The company obtained two patents for invention and two patents for utility models. In addition, it submitted 5 applications of patents for invention and 6 applications of patents for utility models. Apart from the eight R&D technological achievements accredited at this accreditation meeting, the company has more than 10 other technologies and processes currently under development.
