24 September 2014 - Apical, as a processor and trader of palm oil, is committed to ensuring sustainability in its entire supply chain, from cultivation to consumption.
This commitment is reinforced and manifested through its support for the New York Declaration on Forests announced at the United Nations Climate Summit 2014. The declaration is an international, multi-sector commitment to safeguard the world’s forests and to help tackle climate change.
UN secretary general Ban Ki-moon, who convened the summit, said: “The New York declaration aims to reduce more climate pollution each year than the United States emits annually, and it doesn’t stop there. Forests are not only a critical part of the climate solution – the actions agreed today will reduce poverty, enhance food security, improve the rule of law, secure the rights of indigenous peoples and benefit communities around the world.”
As a founding member of the Business Council for Sustainable Development Singapore and a member of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), Apical regards forest conservation, food security, and the socio-economic welfare of the local communities and stakeholders as a responsible way of conducting its business.
By collaborating with its suppliers and other stakeholders to work towards building a traceable and transparent palm oil supply chain, Apical intends to influence positive changes consonant with the objectives of the Declaration.
Apical, as part of the Royal Golden Eagle (RGE) Group of companies owned by visionary and entrepreneur Sukanto Tanoto, engages in the sourcing, refining, merchandising distribution and trading of crude palm oil (CPO) and its derivatives, with its operations in Indonesia and China.
The company’s business model is built upon a reliable and broad CPO sourcing network, full integration of efficient primary and secondary refinery assets, as well as efficient logistic channels to deliver quality products to diversified clientele, ranging from international trade houses to local industrial buyers.
