The "2014 GoldenBee Corporate Social Responsibility China Honour Roll", introduced by China WTO Tribune – a monthly magazine supervised by the Ministry of Commerce, was unveiled in Beijing, China on 4-5 June 2015. Asia Symbol was given a “GoldenBee Growing Enterprises Award” at the 10th China International Forum on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). This is indeed an accolade attributable to its founder, Sukanto Tanoto’s philosophy of good business is about what’s good for the community, country and company - only then will it be sustainable.

As a member on the Board of Trustees of Tanoto Foundation, Belinda Tanoto participated in the panel discussion hosted by veteran international journalist, Teymoor Nabili. She shared her views on the importance of collaboration between various stakeholders such as non-governmental organizations (NGOs), government and private sector to alleviate poverty.
The first Sustainable Forest Management certification from Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) for an Indonesian forestry company was awarded to APRIL Group on 8 June 2015. APRIL Group’s manufacturing operations are already PEFC Chain-of-Custody certified, meaning it is now PEFC certified end-to-end throughout its supply chain.
The ceremony to mark the launch-to-market of the first copier paper to bear the logos of both the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) and Chinese Forestry Certification Council (CFCC), was held by Asia Symbol in Beijing, China on 3 June 2015. This is the first paper to be launched with the combined logos since the China Forest Certification System (CFCS) achieved the PEFC endorsement in 2014.
Under the leadership and guiding philosophy of Sukanto Tanoto, all the companies within RGE operate in a manner which is “good for the community, good for the country and good for the company”. As such, each company operates on the basis of sustainability and high social and environmental responsibility in every sector and operation, as seen in the RGE Forestry, Fibre, Pulp & Paper Sustainability Framework. The key commitments include no deforestation, proactive support of local communities, responsible management of peatlands.
As part of the Wharton Global Modular Course : Sustainable Growth in ASEAN: Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia that took place from 25 to 31 May 2015, the undergraduates, MBAs, and executive MBA students from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania had the opportunity to learn from prominent business leaders working in the region, and RGE founder & chairman, Sukanto Tanoto, is one of them.
