On 12 February 2015, Tanoto Foundation signed an agreement with United Nations International Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to support the implementation of SATAP (Sekolah Satu Atap) - One Roof School program in East Java and West Sulawesi in Indonesia.
On 11 February 2015, APRIL Group - the pulp and paper business within RGE group of companies - joined the editors of The Economist, members of the new Indonesian government, international experts and business leaders in Jakarta, for the Indonesia Summit 2015, themed ‘New light or false dawn’. Lively discussions and debates about the macro-economic and political challenges and opportunities facing Indonesia were exchanged in the one-day event hosted by The Economist.
On 10 February 2015, Asian Agri publicly declared its continuing commitment to develop Indonesian smallholders, including those farmers who are independent smallholders. Since 2011, the company has embarked on the independent smallholder development program by assisting to build the smallholder farmers’ capacity through education.
On 9 January 2015, the first "Hyprint Innovative Packaging Design Competition” awards ceremony was held at Tianjin University of Science and Technology. Asia Symbol provides the premium grade coated white board and coated linerboard used in the competition. The competition is open to Tianjin University’s undergraduates and graduate students and is designed to provide a showcase for innovative, creative and “green” packaging.
Over three days, January 28–30, 2015, BC Environment Assessment Office (EAO) held the Open Houses in Squamish, West Vancouver and on Bowen Island, as part of the 45-day Public Comment Period on the Environmental Assessment Certificate (EAC) application for the Woodfibre LNG Project. More than 400 people from these communities met members of the Woodfibre LNG team and asked questions about the project or provided feedback on the Woodfibre LNG project’s EAC application submitted.
On January 17, 2015, the technologies and processes from Asia Symbol (Shandong) Pulp and Paper Co., Ltd. research and development (R&D) efforts in 2014 were accredited by China’s leading experts in the pulp and paper industry. Three of the eight R&D achievements were accredited as having attained international standards that are leading in the industry, five having achieved advanced international standard. All eight R&D achievements bear significant values in terms of economic contribution and environmental protection.
